Mission & History

Mission

The US-Qatar Business Council develops, supports, and advances the bilateral business relationship between the United States and the State of Qatar.

Vision

The Council envisions a seamless relationship between the US and Qatar; a permanent partnership built on a foundation of mutual interests and strong political, business, cultural, and security relations. The Council is the leading organization dedicated exclusively to enhancing the bilateral business relationship between the US and Qatar.

The Council achieves this vision primarily, but not exclusively, through improving the commercial and economic relationship between the US and Qatar. The Council offers business advisory services, consultancy services, and coordinates trade missions for US and Qatari companies to facilitate bilateral business. In addition, the Council supports this vision through publishing a weekly newsletter to high-level recipients in government, business, and academia, highlighting news, events, and developments in the US-Qatar relationship. The Council utilizes various vehicles to highlight Qatari happenings and engage stakeholders, including partnerships, events, and articles.

History

Seeking the platform to promote the bilateral business relationship between the US and Qatar, a group of American companies who first invested in Qatar founded the US-Qatar Business Council in 1996. Since then, the commercial, economic, and trade relationship has grown exponentially in addition to USQBC’s membership base and service offerings.

The Council has played a crucial role in expanding the bilateral business relationship by hosting senior executives from Fortune 500 companies, small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and high-ranking government officials for discussions on challenges and opportunities in both markets. As part of this program the Council has had the honor to host visits by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of Qatar as well as His Highness the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and many other senior Qatari officials and private personalities.
