USQBC Supports Qatar National Day Celebration in Washington, DC
Washington, DC— On December 6, the Embassy of the State of Qatar celebrated Qatar National Day at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. Organizations and companies that support the State’s bilateral community including Qatar Airways, Qatar Tourism Authority, Qatari Diar, Qatar Foundation International and the US-Qatar Business Council also participated in the National Day festivities. Attendees sampled Qatari cuisine, listened to Qatari music, and were immersed in the nation’s culture during the celebration.
The participating organizations at the event also created their own installations showcasing their involvement in promoting the bilateral relationship between the United States and the State of Qatar.
The US-Qatar Business Council supported the National Day Celebration by presenting a unique installation that showcased Qatar’s economic development over the years— from an economy founded on trade, to an industrial powerhouse in the hydrocarbon sector, and now a diverse and thriving economy focused on research, technology, and professional services.
The installation was designed by a USQBC member company, Every Global. Titled “Qatar Time Capsule,” Every Global’s installation told the story of Qatar’s growth as a nation through captivating and engaging photography and a stunning LED light display that represented the gateway between Qatar’s past and future.
Won Lee, Every Global’s CEO, stated that he wanted visitors to “Step into the future of Qatar. A State with a forward-thinking strategy built on innovative technology and new media art.” Commenting on Every Global as a whole, Lee states “We believe that a design-led approach, the right partnerships, ¬and sustained engagement with a particular challenge can create transformative change. We work with great innovators to bring new ideas to the table in order to create a business environment that has forward momentum and excitement.”

Every Global’s participation in the National Day Celebration also demonstrates the growing diversity of Qatar’s economy and the broad scope of organizations the US-Qatar Business Council is introducing to the Qatari market. Every Global’s participation in National Day shows their commitment to expanding into the Qatari market and sharing their artistic vision and they have certainly positioned themselves to be industry leaders, and creative influencers in Qatar’s and the GCC’s emerging art, culture and fashion scene.
Qatar’s Chargé D’affaires, Mr. Ali Al-Hajri delivered remarks highlighting Qatar’s achievements over the years and the importance of their mission in the United States.
“We’ve been honored to work with President Obama, and we look forward to forging a strong relationship with President-elect Donald Trump’s administration,” said Al-Hajri. “Qatar is strongly committed to working with the United States to build and sustain peace and prosperity in our region.”
Mr. Jeff Shockey, Vice President of Federal Legislative Affairs and Government Operations at The Boeing Company, a member of the US-Qatar Business Council, also delivered remarks. He focused on the deep commercial relationship between the US and Qatar.
“Qatar remains a critical ally of the United States, a force for stability in the Middle East, and host of our largest military base in the region,” said Shockey. “Thank you for all that you have done to strengthen the ties between our two countries.
Rep. Ralph Abraham of Louisiana also gave remark highlighting how Qatar came to his state’s rescue during one of their biggest tragedies: “After Hurricane Katrina Qatar sent over $100 million and helped rebuild the State of Louisiana. We appreciate their support.”
Rep. Andre Carson of Indiana also gave remarks focusing on the importance of the United States’ and Qatar’s bilateral relationship.
“It’s our shared interests that bind us all together,” said Carson. “I look forward to working with our Qatari counterparts to strengthen both of our nations.”

واشنطن العاصمة - احتفلت قطر باليوم الوطني لدولتها في السادس من كانون الثاني/ديسمبر، في متحف سميثسونيان ناشيونال بورتريت غاليري. وشاركت في الاحتفال منظمات وشركات تدعم مجتمع الدولة الثنائي الأطراف، بما فيها الخطوط الجوية القطرية والهيئة العامة للسياحة في قطر وشركة الديار القطرية ومجلس الأعمال القطري الأمريكي. ولقد تذوّق الحاضرون عيّنات من المطبخ القطري واستمعوا إلى الموسيقى القطرية ونهلوا من بئر الثقافة القطرية في خلال الاحتفال.
وقامت المنظمات المشاركة في الاحتفال بتشييد منصات خاصة لتظهر التزامها بتعزيز العلاقة الثنائية بين الولايات المتحدة ودولة قطر.
وأظهر مجلس الأعمال القطري الأمريكي دعمه لاحتفالات اليوم الوطني في قطر من خلال تقديم منصة فريدة تظهر التطوّر الاقتصادي الذي شهدته دولة قطر على مدى السنين، من اقتصاد بني على التجارة، إلى قوّة صناعية في قطاع الهيدروكربون، إلى أن أصبح اليوم اقتصادًا مزدهرًا يركّز على البحث والتكنولوجيا والخدمات الاحترافية.
صمّمت هذه المنصة التي حملت اسم "كبسولة قطر الزمنية" شركة أفري غلوبال، إحدى الشركات الأعضاء في مجلس الأعمال القطري الأمريكي، وأخبرت المنصة قصّة نمو قطر كدولة عبر عرضٍ ملفت وآسر للصور وعبر تقنية الإضاءة LED المذهلة التي شكّلت البوابة الفاصلة بين ماضي قطر ومستقبلها.
وذكر وون لي، المدير التنفيذي لشركة أفري غلوبال، أنه أراد أن "يخطو الزوار خطوةً نحو مستقبل قطر. هذه الدولة التي تتمتع باستراتيجية تفكير استباقية مبنيّة على تكنولوجيا مبتكرة وفنّ إعلامي جديد." وعلّق لي على شركة أفري غلوبال ككل قائلًا "نؤمن أن النهج القائم على التصميم والشراكات الصحيحة والالتزام الدائم لمواجهة تحدّ محدّد كلها عوامل قادرة على إحداث تغيير جذري. وها إننا نعمل مع مبتكرين عظماء لابتكار أفكار جديدة لاستحداث بيئة عمل تحفّز المرء على الاندفاع والتحلّي بالحماس."
وتؤكد مشاركة أفري غلوبال في الاحتفال باليوم الوطني على التنوع المتزايد في اقتصاد قطر والنطاق الواسع للمنظمات التي يُدخلها مجلس الأعمال القطري الأمريكي إلى السوق القطرية. كما تدلّ مشاركة أفري غلوبال في اليوم الوطني على التزامها بالتوسّع في السوق القطرية وبمشاركتها رؤيتها الخلّاقة. ولا شكّ في أن الشركة قد احتلّت موقعًا رائدًا في مجالها فباتت ملهمة خلّاقة في قطاعات الفن والثقافة والموضة الناشئة في قطر ومجلس التعاون الخليجي.
وقد ألقى القائم بأعمال قطر السيد علي الحجري كلمة سلّط الضوء فيها على الإنجازات التي حقّقتها دولة قطر على مدى السنين وعلى أهمية مهمتها في الولايات المتحدة.
وقال الحجري: "كان لنا شرف التعاون مع الرئيس أوباما، وإننا نتطلّع لإقامة علاقة متينة مع إدارة الرئيس المنتخب دونالد ترامب." وأضاف: "إن قطر ملتزمة إلى أبعد حدّ بالتعاون مع الولايات المتحدة لإحلال السلام والازدهار في منطقتنا وللمحافظة عليهما."
كما ألقى السيد جيف شوكي، نائب رئيس الشؤون التشريعية الفدرالية والعمليات الحكومية في شركة بوينغ، وعضو في مجلس الأعمال القطري الأمريكي، كلمة ركّز فيها على العلاقة التجارية المتينة بين الولايات المتحدة وقطر.
وقال شوكي: "لا تزال قطر تعتبر حليفًا مهمًا للولايات المتحدة، ومصدر استقرار في الشرق الأوسط وهي التي تستضيف أكبر قاعدة عسكرية لنا في المنطقة." وأضاف: "أشكركم جميعًا على ما تقومون به لتعزيز العلاقات بين بلدينا."
كما ألقى رالف أبراهام، النائب عن ولاية لويزيانا، كلمة شدّد فيها على مساعدة قطر لولايته عندما كانت تمرّ بإحدى أكبر المحن التي عاشتها: "أرسلت قطر، عقب إعصار كاترينا، أكثر من 100 مليون دولار وساهمت في إعادة بناء ولاية لويزيانا، ونحن نقدّر دعمها."
وألقى أندريه كارسون، النائب عن ولاية إنديانا، بدوره كلمة ركّز فيها على أهمية العلاقة الثنائية بين الولايات المتحدة وقطر.
وقال كارسون: "إن مصالحنا المشتركة هي التي تربطنا ببعضنا البعض. وأنا أتطلّع للعمل مع نظائرنا القطريين لتعزيز العلاقات بين بلدينا."
