USQBC Attends Arab Center First Annual Conference
>
On October 14, 2016, the US-Qatar Business Council’s Managing Director Mohammed Barakat attended the first ever “Democracy in the Arab World: The Obama Legacy and Beyond” conference at the Arab Center in Washington, DC.
During President Barack Obama’s presidency the Arab world has undertaken substantial political changes: some of which dealt with the aftermath of America’s military engagements launched by his predecessor, and others stemmed from the revolutionary spread of democracy via the Arab Spring in 2011.
This conference discussed the complex and evolving dynamics of American foreign policy in the Middle East, and recommendations for the next administration for addressing the many diverse nations in the region.
“Qatar obviously plays an important role in regarding Middle East foreign policy, and Qatar greatly values their healthy relationship with the United States, but this conference shows the importance of multilateral relationships and the necessity for Middle Eastern nations to work together along with the United States to address the issues that threaten all of us,” said Mr. Barakat.
Mr. Barakat was pleased to be a participant in these vital discussions, and is proud that Qatari voices remain a vital piece of these essential discussions. We look forward to participating in next conference and many more for years to come.
