WASHINGTON, DC - JANUARY 29, 2018: This week, the largest ever delegation of Qatari officials visits the United States. The Qatari delegation was welcomed to the United States at a reception jointly hosted by the US-Qatar Business Council (USQBC), the US Chamber of Commerce, and the Embassy of the State of Qatar.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, the President and CEO of the US Chamber of Commerce Tom Donohue, and the President of the US-Qatar Business Council Ambassador Anne Patterson welcomed Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, and the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada at the reception.
Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister said that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the US-Qatar relationship, noting that the inaugural strategic dialogue shows the depth of the bilateral relationship.
"We are not only talking about a security and defense partnership, but we believe that the business sector is an important element in this partnership," he added.
The Minister of Economy & Commerce focused on the strength of the Qatari economy and the importance of the United States as a trading and investment partner.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's remarks stressed the importance of the strategic bilateral relationship between the US and Qatar, underlining the US commitment to the sovereignty of Qatar. Tillerson urged US businessmen to invest in Qatar, stressing that "Qatar is an ally that has always adhered to its promises."
US-Qatar Business Council President, Ambassador Anne Patterson welcomed the opportunity for senior Qatari Ministers and US businesses to engage in discussions over the coming days.
"For the next couple of days, you will be hearing a lot about America's extensive commercial interests with Qatar, about the opportunities for more US exports in sectors like food and bulk storage, about the jaw-decreasing size - and potential - of US military sales, and about the money the Qatari government has already invested in the US and its plans to invest a lot more, "Ambassador Patterson said.
"You will hear about how Qatar turned regional adversity into an opportunity for exporters and investors by dramatically opening up its market so that businessmen and women can come in without visas, own 100% of a business, apply for citizenship, and employ foreign workers more efficiently and humanely because of radical reforms to Qatar's labor laws, "she added.
"We welcome all of our guests from Qatar and are looking forward to many productive and substantive discussions over the coming days."
واشنطن العاصمة - 29 كانون الثاني/يناير 2018: زار هذا الأسبوع أكبر وفد على الإطلاق يضمّ مسؤولين قطريين الولايات المتحدة. وقد تمّ الترحيب بالوفد القطري في الولايات المتحدة في إطار حفل استقبال بضيافة كل من مجلس الأعمال الأمريكي القطري وغرفة التجارة الأمريكية وسفارة دولة قطر.
وقد رحّب وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ريكس تيليرسون، والرئيس والمدير التنفيذي لغرفة التجارة الأمريكية السيد توم دونوهو، ورئيسة مجلس الأعمال الأمريكي القطري السفيرة آن باترسون بنائب رئيس الوزراء القطري ووزير الخارجية الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن آل ثاني، ووزير الاقتصاد والتجارة الشيخ أحمد بن جاسم آل ثاني، ووزير الطاقة والصناعة الدكتور محمد بن صالح السادة خلال حفل الاستقبال.
وقال نائب رئيس الوزراء القطري ووزير الخارجية إن هذا العام يصادف الذكرى 45 على إقامة العلاقات الأمريكية-القطرية، علمًا بأن الحوار الاستراتيجي الافتتاحي يُظهر عمق العلاقات الثنائية.
وأضاف: "نحن لا نتكلم عن الشراكة على صعيد الأمن والدفاع فحسب، بل نعتقد أن قطاع الأعمال يشكّل عاملًا مهمًا في هذه الشراكة".
أما وزير الاقتصاد والتجارة، فقد ركّز على متانة الاقتصاد القطري وأهمية الولايات المتحدة كشريك تجاري واستثماري.
وقد ركّزت ملاحظات وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ريكس تيليرسون على أهمية العلاقة الثنائية الاستراتيجية بين الولايات المتحدة وقطر، مشددًا على التزم بلاده بسيادة قطر. وحضّ تيليرسون رجال الأعمال الأمريكيين على الاستثمار في قطر، مشددًا على أن "قطر هي دولة حليفة لطالما التزمت بوعودها".
بدورها، رحبت رئيسة مجلس الأعمال الأمريكي القطري السفيرة آن باترسون بالفرصة المتاحة أمام الوزراء القطريين الرفيعي المستوى والشركات الأمريكية لإجراء المحادثات خلال الأيام المقبلة.
وقالت في هذا السياق، "ستسمعون خلال اليومين المقبلين الكثير عن المصالح التجارية الأمريكية الكبيرة مع قطر وعن فرص زيادة الصادرات الأمريكية في قطاعات على غرار المواد الغذائية والتخزين السائب، وعن الحجم المذهل للمبيعات العسكرية الأمريكية والإمكانيات المتعددة في هذا المجال، وكذلك عن الأموال التي سبق أن استثمرتها الحكومة القطرية في الولايات المتحدة وعزم دولة قطر على استثمار الكثير بعد".
